Paramedic Education Program

The paramedic education program is the highest level of EMS training a student can obtain without a degree. It includes instruction in advanced life support, endotracheal intubation, defibrillators, interpretation of ECGs, advanced assessment and recognition skills, and advanced interventions.

The Elkhart General paramedic education program prepares graduates to manage clinical emergencies of the acutely ill or injured in pre-hospital settings. Completion of this program results in eligibility for the National Registry examination.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be a current Emergency Medical Technician-Basic, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Advanced, Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate or eligible for certification in Indiana.
  • Must be a current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR or Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer.
