Nutrition Services

At Elkhart General Healthcare, our award-winning Nutrition Services department employs chefs from top culinary schools across the country and has won awards for community service for our high standards and for excellence in food preparation and presentation.

No matter what role you are in, you’ll play an important part in delivering a world-class patient experience. After all, for many patients breakfast, lunch and dinner could be the highlight of their day.

We offer opportunities to advance in the system, a positive team environment and, like all positions with EGH, tuition reimbursement that allows you to continue your education in the field of your choice.

So, whether you join our EGH Nutrition Services team in the trayline area, as a clinical dietitian, as part of our production staff, or as a nutrition services worker, you will be a valued part of an award-winning team.

Nutrition Services Workers

EGH offers a cafeteria and deli to accommodate your fellow staff members as well as visitors to the hospital. As a nutrition services worker, you’ll be cross-trained in all aspects of the department including serving hot food, maintaining the salad bar, stocking the cafeteria and register operations. We provide a positive team environment and training by experienced peers.

Trayline

As a member of our trayline staff, you’ll be working with experienced co-workers with the skills needed to interact with our patients and the attitude to provide you with a great team environment.

We truly take pride in the meals we serve and provide our patients with a menu of options each day. To make your job easier, we provide you with the latest technology to ensure each patient receives exactly what they ordered. If an issue does arise, our outlined “service recovery steps” proactively and quickly resolve any issue, helping you meet your patient needs and provide quality customer service.

Production Staff/Cooks

Elkhart General Healthcare System is lucky to have a production staff with strong culinary backgrounds. As part of our team, you’ll work under our executive chef, Bill O’Brien, who has worked with the Chicago Bears, the Colts, and has even prepared meals at the White House. And, because we know your life outside the kitchen is important to you, unlike the restaurant or hotel industries, our last shift of the day ends at 7 o'clock p.m.

Clinical Dietitian

As a clinical dietitian, we’ll provide you with the environment, technology, and training you’ll need to practice your passion and advance in your career.

With this team of trained professionals you'll stay up-to-date with the ever-changing nutrition trends and know-hows.  Monthly competency series are held to help you grow in your field of expertise giving you the knowledge you need to be the best!!  This combined with the supportive teamwork of co-workers makes our EGH dietitians second to none.

Our dietitians maintain CPE levels with the help of continuing education monies. And if you have an interest in reaching outside the hospital to others in the Elkhart County community, EGH is proud to be involved in the Northern Indiana Dietetic Association (NIDA)  and other various community programs that help kids and adults make healthy eating decisions.
