Career Advancement and Continuing Education at EGH

At Elkhart General Healthcare System, while you’re busy providing exceptional care to the community, we’re working hard to provide tools to ensure that you have everything you need to reach your full career potential.

Every staff member has the opportunity to advance in their career, whether they’re just starting an entry-level position or are a seasoned professional. We offer annual tuition reimbursement  for all full-time and part-time employees who wish to pursue a degree from an accredited school of their choice. Our experienced staff members provide mentoring for our new employees across departments, helping to get off on a strong start in their careers, and our hospital-wide open-door policy and high level of managerial support benefits all employees.

In addition to our hospital-wide programs, our Health Information Department (HIM) offers certification reimbursement for any level of certification for team members in this particular field.

Our Nutrition Services department helps Dietitians maintain their CPE Levels by reimbursing tuition and travel expenses.

Our Nursing units offer a unique, peer-developed Clinical Ladder Program allowing you to proactively manage your nursing career and gain educational credits, as well an in-house BSN program, making it easier to create a healthy life-work balance while working full time and earning your degree.

Our Rehabilitation Services Department affords every therapist in every discipline a yearly allowance of $1,500 towards continuing education and five paid days off in which to attend classes.

BSN Program

Elkhart General values your time and values your need to grow in your profession. Therefore we've made it easier if you have been thinking about going back to college to obtain your BSN.   Consider our in-house program with Goshen College.

Our 19 month BSN completion program is taught by Goshen College staff and is a unique in-house program designed for the RN who is working full time and does not have the time to go to class several days each week. You will meet for class one night each week right here in the hospital, making it easier to work full time and earn your degree while maintaining a healthy life balance outside of your career. It is a program designed with you in mind, and is an opportunity unique to EGH.

For an application or to find out more about this program, please contact Mary Moretto in the Division of Adult and External Studies (DAES) at (574)535-7458.
